Adding Full Controller Support


Overview

Today marks a big milestone: Doomed Inheritance now supports both Xbox-style and PlayStation-style gamepads alongside keyboard & mouse. Controller users can seamlessly navigate menus, solve puzzles, and experience every terrifying moment without ever touching WASD.

Input Mapping & UI Updates

  • Action & Axis Bindings: In Project Settings → Input, I mapped:

    • MoveForward / MoveRight → Left Stick Y/X

    • LookUp / Turn → Right Stick Y/X

    • Interact, Toggle HUD, Pause, and Back Out → face buttons and special keys

  • Dynamic Prompts: All on-screen hints now detect the last-used device. If you pick up a controller, “Press E” automatically becomes “Press Ⓐ” (or “Cross” on PlayStation).

Official Gamepad Control Mapping

  • Interact: Ⓐ (Xbox) / ✕ (PlayStation)

  • Flashlight: Right Bumper (RB / R1)

  • Pause Menu: Menu Button (often shown as ☰ or “Options”)

  • Back / Cancel: 🅱 (Xbox) / ◯ (PlayStation)
